We are looking for people who are excited about WordPress to entertain our attendees and teach them new things.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speaker submissions are now closed. <\/strong><br \/>\nWe expect to send out emails to everyone who submitted a talk, the week of June 16, 2014.<\/p>\n<h3>Why speak?<\/h3>\n<p>Presenting at WordCamp takes some work but is very rewarding. You get to show off how smart you are, convince people you\u2019re worth hiring and help everyone learn about WordPress, all at the same time. Speakers also receive free admission to WordCamp.<\/p>\n<h3>What we\u2019re looking for<\/h3>\n<p>The ideal speaker has a <strong>WordPress-related topic<\/strong> they are passionate about and that they can present in <strong>45 minutes<\/strong> with attractive <strong>PowerPoint\/Keynote slides<\/strong> and <strong>detailed, coherent explanations<\/strong>. Designers, bloggers, businesses and developers are all welcome to apply! Talks can be in English or French. Your topic should be specific to WordPress.<\/p>\n<p>Show us what you\u2019ve made with WordPress and explain how you did it, or what you learned in the process. Give us concrete examples: code snippets, 10 important lessons you learned, specific advice on how to avoid problems, etc. Nothing is too hardcore, advanced, simple or beginner-level. We\u2019re looking for diversity.<\/p>\n<p>We reserve the right to refuse any submission.<\/p>\n<h3>General Areas<\/h3>\n<p>The general fields we are hoping to cover include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Using WordPress to blog and write.<\/li>\n<li>Using WordPress to design and build websites.<\/li>\n<li>WordPress plugin and core development and systems administration.<\/li>\n<li>Primers on underlying web technologies (HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript) that are needed for WordPress development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please view <a href=\"http:\/\/2013.montreal.wordcamp.org\/schedule\/\">last year\u2019s schedule<\/a> for example topics.<\/p>\n<h3>Topic Ideas<\/h3>\n<p>Here\u2019s a list of topics we\u2019d love to see at WordCamp.
