Alice Phieu is a UI/UX designer from Montreal. She enjoys working on products that solve problems by creating innovative solutions to make users’ work and life better. Curiosity about human behaviours and delivering intuitive designs are what drive her to push pixels every day. Some of the experience she has is a long career working in the music industry focusing on art direction, graphic/web design and of course WordPress.
Alison Knott
As a web designer, Alison Knott wants to dispel the myth that design is about looking good. It’s about effective communication… that works and looks great! Alison’s career as a print designer turned web geek has seen her give presentations in an unusual blend of creativity, marketing, community and web. As an emerging public speaker, she brings high-octane enthusiasm to her presentations, with a focus on audience involvement. When not tooting the WordPress horn, she can be found drawing strange portraits in the company of her two parrots in Halifax. She runs the WordPress Halifax Meetup and E3C, a meetup for visual artists.

Jonathan Perlman is an experienced web developer and teacher that works for Dawson College in Montreal, Quebec. He builds custom web solutions for the students, faculty and staff. Kate Newbill has been building websites since she taught herself HTML and CSS to dress up her eBay listings in 1999. She flirted with a few primitive content management systems before finding WordPress in 2004 (version 1.2) and has never looked back since then. Today she runs 2FishWeb LLC, a general WordPress consultancy offering design, development, security, and maintenance services, and teaches classes on WordPress. An organizer for WordCamp Birmingham, she lives in Birmingham, Alabama with her husband, two dogs, and a cat, and is currently planning zero trips in hot-air balloons.

As a part of gen X I’ve been in and out of careers and have more diplomas than I really need. My education in library studies, and experience in records has made me something of an information junkie. I have great search skills, and love helping people find what they need. I had a role helping transition to a large multi-site install. At the time my knowledge was very limited, so I found myself spending a lot of time looking for answers, and being a bit scared to commit to doing something. After realizing that mistakes were OK, and asking questions was a good thing I was excited to jump in with both feet.

Marie-Lynn Richard started managing online communities in the early 90s using FidoNet. She started developing content management systems soon after. She deployed the first search engine in Canada and wrote on the topic of SEO in 1995. She has contributed to a book about girls and STEM and has been in love with WordPress for 12 years. She now specializes in recovering and securing WordPress.

Max has been tinkering with web sites since 1998; his first blog was running on WordPress 2.0 – in 2006. He started professionally working with the platform about six years ago, after having moved to Montréal from Ottawa (and having never looked back). Two years ago he made a break from the office and became a freelancer.

Nick Adams is a web developer and the founder of Revault Media, which is an agency operating in the US and Canada, based out of Rochester, New York.
