Alice Phieu

Alice Phieu is a UI/UX designer from Montreal. She enjoys working on products that solve problems by creating innovative solutions to make users’ work and life better. Curiosity about human behaviours and delivering intuitive designs are what drive her to push pixels every day. Some of the experience she has is a long career working in the music industry focusing on art direction, graphic/web design and of course WordPress.

Alison Knott

As a web designer, Alison Knott wants to dispel the myth that design is about looking good. It’s about effective communication… that works and looks great! Alison’s career as a print designer turned web geek has seen her give presentations in an unusual blend of creativity, marketing, community and web. As an emerging public speaker, she brings high-octane enthusiasm to her presentations, with a focus on audience involvement. When not tooting the WordPress horn, she can be found drawing strange portraits in the company of her two parrots in Halifax. She runs the WordPress Halifax Meetup and E3C, a meetup for visual artists.

Belinda Darcey

Belinda Darcey has been working in web design for 16 years. At her indie design shop, DolceDesign, she creates visuals for websites, mobile apps, billboards, trade show promo pieces, fake tattoos and… well you get the picture.

Bernard Prince

Bernard Prince a utilisé le web dans ses entreprises dès 1998. Stratège web depuis 2008, il étudie et observe l’évolution du web, le “Inbound marketing” et les outils d’analyse numérique. Conférencier à différents événements, dont le SEO camp (2012), Le Lab de Trois-Rivières (2013, 2015) et le WordCamp de Montréal 2015. Brendan Sera-Shriar has been an interactive designer, developer, college and university professor, community manager, author, consultant, and professional speaker at some of the largest corporations and festivals in the world, including Microsoft, Mozilla Firefox, Sun Microsystems, WordCamp, BlogWorld, SXSW and more. His work has also appeared in TechCrunch, TechVibes, WordPress TV, and a host of other blogs. He was also featured in the October 2012 issue of Marketing Magazine. Despite being known best for his work as a WordPress designer, developer, and WordCamp speaker and organizer, Brendan’s best communications skills lie in his ability to help organizations understand how they can build communities around their products and services.

As an experienced Internet marketing entrepreneur, content creator, consultant, international conference speaker, and author, Brian has spent the last 20 years helping brands excel online. His latest book, Content Marketing Ideas, is a complete guide to content creation which has been highly praised by critics and is rated five stars on Amazon. Chris Flannagan

I have been building websites since I was a kid and discovered GeoCities. Now I’m a WordPress engineer with blog contributions, plugin features and more under my belt. I’m speaking at WordCamp St. Louis, Asheville and WP Campus this year. I love craft beer, play in a rock band and I am the Director of Digital Technology for Quasar Bio-Tech, Inc.

Dara Skolnick

Dara is an independent web designer and front-end developer from Toronto. After working as a web developer at a number of places from large organizations to small agencies, she now runs her own one-person shop where she designs and code websites (very often using WordPress!) for entrepreneurs, creatives, and big-hearted small businesses.

Jasmine Brien fait son premier site intranet en 1998, tout codé à la mitaine ! Jean-Francois Arseneault

Fort de plus de 20 ans d’expérience en TI, propriétaire d’une agence de développement WordPress depuis 2009, et co-fondateur d’une plateforme SAAS pour les courtiers immobiliers basée sur WordPress Multisite, Jean-François a également enseigné au collégial sur les technologies du Web, et continue de se faire croire qu’il va courir plus de 5 km un jour.

Jonathan Bardo

I’m Montreal based web developer currently working as a senior product engineer on the managed WordPress platform for GoDaddy. I engineer and scale WordPress product that reach millions of people and particularly enjoy crunching data in the hope of seeing patterns, understanding behavior and improving the product I work on.

Jonathan Perlman

Jonathan Perlman is an experienced web developer and teacher that works for Dawson College in Montreal, Quebec. He builds custom web solutions for the students, faculty and staff. Recently he’s been leveraging WordPress more and more to do the heavy lifting while focusing on the needs of the institution with custom themes and plugins. Some of his sites have been built for a select few whereas others are visited by 12,000+ applicants. Jonathan is also an instructor for Dawson’s Centre for Training and Development specializing in web technologies such as HTML & CSS, PHP and WordPress.

Kate Newbill

Kate Newbill has been building websites since she taught herself HTML and CSS to dress up her eBay listings in 1999. She flirted with a few primitive content management systems before finding WordPress in 2004 (version 1.2) and has never looked back since then. Today she runs 2FishWeb LLC, a general WordPress consultancy offering design, development, security, and maintenance services, and teaches classes on WordPress. An organizer for WordCamp Birmingham, she lives in Birmingham, Alabama with her husband, two dogs, and a cat, and is currently planning zero trips in hot-air balloons.

Kathryn Presner

Kathryn Presner thrives on helping people get the most out of WordPress. After a career designing and building websites for clients, she joined Automattic as a Happiness Engineer in 2012. She’s currently Theme Whisperer on the Theme Team, where she helps folks with customization, configuration, and troubleshooting. She enjoys spreading her passion for WordPress and encouraging new public speakers at WordCamps, Girl Geeks, Ladies Learning Code, and other grassroots events. Non-WordPress obsessions include vintage Pyrex mixing bowls and growing garlic.

Liesl Barrell

Liesl is an agency veteran with over 8 years of digital marketing experience and award-winning projects under her belt. Originally South African, she has worked with brands like Bombardier, Birks, Lise Watier, Mary Kay, Just For Laughs, Pfizer, Van Houtte, and The Montreal Gazette. In her spare time Liesl is a seasoned writer, public speaker and passionate community leader for women in technology. She’s executive director of Montreal Girl Geeks and is on the board of the YES Montreal STEM Mentorship program.

Linn Øyen Farley

Linn Øyen Farley is a Canadian/Norwegian cat enthusiast. She runs a one-person web design & development studio in Toronto, where she works primarily with WordPress. On the side she teaches beginner classes in WordPress, HTML & CSS with Camp Tech.

Lucas Cherkewski

I’m a designer and developer who has worked professionally with WordPress and other platforms for six years, for a variety of clients. In addition to client work, I follow and contribute to open source civic design efforts, working to improve the relationship between citizens and their governments. Passionate about reading up on new design principles, and about supporting reuse and easy maintenance, I have been working with pattern libraries and the design and development methodology they suggest for two years.

Lynne Rutledge

As a part of gen X I’ve been in and out of careers and have more diplomas than I really need. My education in library studies, and experience in records has made me something of an information junkie. I have great search skills, and love helping people find what they need. I had a role helping transition to a large multi-site install. At the time my knowledge was very limited, so I found myself spending a lot of time looking for answers, and being a bit scared to commit to doing something. After realizing that mistakes were OK, and asking questions was a good thing I was excited to jump in with both feet.

Marie-Lynn Richard

Marie-Lynn Richard started managing online communities in the early 90s using FidoNet. She started developing content management systems soon after. She deployed the first search engine in Canada and wrote on the topic of SEO in 1995. She has contributed to a book about girls and STEM and has been in love with WordPress for 12 years. She now specializes in recovering and securing WordPress.

Max Kovalenkov

Max has been tinkering with web sites since 1998; his first blog was running on WordPress 2.0 – in 2006. He started professionally working with the platform about six years ago, after having moved to Montréal from Ottawa (and having never looked back). Two years ago he made a break from the office and became a freelancer.

Meagan Hanes

Meagan Hanes is a WordPress expert and technology consultant based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, with over 20 years creating websites by hand and over 10 years using WordPress. She creates elegant, high-performance, mobile-optimized web solutions – front-end, back-end, and everything in between. You may have seen her present talks across a variety of WordPress subjects, such as website performance, the website creation process, and learning HTML/CSS. She gives back to local communities through organizing WordCamp Ottawa 2016 and 2017, running meetups such as the Ottawa WordPress Community and the Arnprior WordPress Group, and teaching others to code via Ladies Learning Code. She is currently in the process of launching a new web agency, and is interested to talk with anyone who has ideas or advice 🙂

Michal Bluma

Michal Bluma is a Montreal freelance developer who loves WordPress, code, cats and metaphors. He’s been chopping up mockups for quite a while and would love to share some tips, tricks and how to avoid certain gotchas when it comes to the website creation chain. Michele Butcher

Michele is the Accounts Coordinator for Valet. She is also the Support Guru for GiveWP and a Support Engineer for Yoast. She is from Carbondale, Illinois (the other, prettier area of Illinois. Michele is also the Lead Organizer of The Southern Illinois WordPress Meetup and teaches beginners WordPress for John A Logan College.

Mika Epstein

Mika Ariela Epstein is better known as Ipstenu, the Half-Elf Rogue. Working for DreamHost, specializing in WordPress hosting (aka ‘WordPress Guru’), Mika helps make WordPress and hosting better for everyone. When she isn’t reviewing plugins she’s helping in the support forums and speaking at WordCamps worldwide about code and open source technology. A self-taught guru on Multisite and .htaccess, she has a passion for writing and technology and blogs about them whenever possible.

Mo Jangda

Mo is a Code Octopus at Automattic. He likes ice cream and other sugary things.

Mohamed Hamad

Graduating with a Bachelor of Information Systems in UX Design and System Integration from MIT in Auckland, New Zealand, Mohamed has worked across the gamut of the tech industry. From project management for government, web development and R&D at a Montreal based startup, and Account management and Digital Strategy at Montreal’s largest performance-based marketing agency (NVI, now iProspect). Prior to co-founding Third Wunder, Mohamed worked independently for 3 years as a consultant and web developer to brands such as Luxury Retreats, Insight Medical Imaging, Effigis and AOD Marketing.

Nick Adams

Nick Adams is a web developer and the founder of Revault Media, which is an agency operating in the US and Canada, based out of Rochester, New York. He splits his time between London, Ontario and Rochester, New York where he organizes the WordPress London and WordPress Finger Lakes meetups in each city respectively. Nick started Revault Media while attending the University of Hartford where he studied Computer Science and French. He is passionate about making information and learning accessible to all people.

Renoir Boulanger

Sasha is a web strategist, front-end developer, and multidisciplinary designer. She runs an interactive design studio in Montreal, Canada that specializes in creating WordPress websites for NPOs, cause-based organizations, and other do-gooders. Her goal is to make a lasting impact through amplifying the voices of those who are working towards meaningful positive changes. She enjoys spreading her passion for coding, design, and social change through public speaking and educational initiatives like Ladies Learning Code and Girls Learning Code.

Shannon Smith

Shannon Smith is the founder of Café Noir Design, a boutique Montreal web design company specializing in multilingual web development. She builds beautiful, functional websites that her clients can update themselves and that are easy for search engines to find. She supports things like making the web accessible for everyone, using open source software, helping organizations find greener more sustainable ways to operate through online technology and helping non-profits with online community organizing. Shelly Peacock

Shelly Peacock, AKA @Spinbird, has been in sales and graphic design since 2001, moving focus to include Social Media Management and Digital Marketing in 2007. She built her first WordPress site in 2009- as a way to make her designs “do stuff”, and as a portfolio for her art business. Shucked it all to run The SpinBird Group, a WordPress consulting and design agency. She likes short walks on the beach, cabanas, and shooting opossums off her back deck with her shotgun. Tippi Thole is the happy owner of Bright Spot Studio where she does branding, web and print design for freelancers and small businesses across North America. Before starting her own studio, she worked for 15 years as an art director and designer for a variety of U.S. magazines and newspapers. When she’s not helping clients, you’ll find her knee-deep in a home improvement project, playing in her backyard or salsa dancing way past her bedtime.

Ziad Saab

Ziad is a full-stack web developer and educator from Montreal, Canada with over ten years of experience. He has worked for startups, agencies, and large companies. Ziad co-founded and is currently teaching at DecodeMTL, a full-stack JavaScript Web Development bootcamp in Montreal, Canada. He is also an instructor and mentor at the local Ladies Learning Code chapter, and sometimes does mentoring at HackHands and Codementor. He loves teaching more than anything and is motivated by seeing his students succeed.
