What is WordCamp Montreal?
WordCamp Montreal is a conference about the world’s most popular blogging and CMS software: WordPress. For two days, developers, designers, entrepreneurs, and bloggers will come together for WordPress-related talks, workshops, and networking.
In 2017, there were 128 WordCamps in 48 different countries.
WordCamps are held all over the world. Closer to home, along with Montreal there are WordPress communities holding WordCamps in Ottawa, Toronto, Halifax, Niagara, and Rochester.
These conferences are a global phenomenon and have existed for 10+ years thanks to volunteers in the WordPress community.
Why should you go to WordCamp Montreal?
The #1 reason people love WordCamp is the opportunity it provides to connect with other people who are working with WordPress in different ways.
There are many sessions and workshops on different topics related to WordPress and website development. Experts in blogging, marketing, SEO, theme-building, plugin development, and freelancing will be giving presentations with Q&As over the course of the two-day conference.
You also can get one-on-one support at the “Happiness Bar” with specific issues related to your website. In between sessions, you can network with professionals in the web industry and take a look at or share an announcement on our job board.
Who should go to WordCamp Montreal?
Anyone who’s working with WordPress in any way can enjoy WordCamp. If you’ve got a company website that you’d like to take to the next level, this is a great place to gain new ideas and see what others are doing.
If, on the other hand, you’re a seasoned developer, we’ve got talks on new and shiny tools such as React, Gulp, Rich Snippets, and more. Along with sessions on how to make your workflows better, how to troubleshoot sites, and how to customize WooCommerce.
We also have talks relevant to a wide variety of people and very relevant to the Montreal context, such as the requirements of managing websites in two languages, creating a bilingual social media strategy, the “Français du Canada” within the WordPress eco-system, and setting up a multilingual site.
